Note about parents

The guess that Anna Barbara Schaeffer was the son of Lt. George Schaeffer and Elizabeth Ruhl may or may not be correct. A lot depends on where the marriage occurred. Her husband, Daniel Resler, came from Berks County so it is plausible that he married there, in which case Anna Barbara could well have been a daughter of Lt. George. But that would be inconsistent with a birth location in Fayette County, since George never went there. There are a lot of Schaeffer families around at that time so there would certainly be other possibilities.

I had a lot of difficulty following the various pedigrees detailing Daniel Resler's family. I have no idea where the source for much of the information presented comes from. As far as I can tell, the most reliable information available comes from "The History of Fayette County", by Franklin Ellis, published in 1882 and available online in transcript form at the link below, from the USGenWeb Fayette County project.

Cross-referencing this information against census schedules, I am assuming that Daniel b. ~1752 was married twice, once to a woman named Schaeffer, and secondly to a woman named Ritenour. Some of these children were born nearly 20 years apart, and there appears to be a large gap between them. I have no idea how the published pedigrees arrived at their maiden names. I have the correct information, but it does not match these profiles, as the children listed are totally different than my research shows. the birth and death info match however. I am currently adding source information, so maybe someone can help me merge these profiles to the correct ones?
