About Anna Beatrice Stiles
When people reach retirement age, they often look forward to settling down and taking life a little easier. They might play bridge, do a little gardening or join a civic organization.
Although Anna Stiles of Maypearl is retired, she is anything but settled down. She is still active and agile enough to ride horses, which she has done for years. She admits that she doesn't ride as often as she used to in previous years.
At age 92, Mrs. Stiles still enjoys keeping house, driving her car, working in the yard and traveling, as well as getting up on a horse from time to time. In addition, she is a member of the First Baptist Church of Maypearl.
She enjoys traveling and visits her sister in Hillsboro; a son, Dr. H.M. Stiles in Washington, DC and a son, Wendell in Arlington.
She isn't able to pinpoint why she is in such good health for a woman her age or give a secret to her agility. One of her sons, Dr. H.M. Stiles of Washington, DC says, "She never can sit still."
Mrs Stiles moved to Ellis County in 1903 (when she was six years old) with her family from Alabama. She married H.A.Stiles who died in the 1960s.
Her son says, "My brother and I think she's just about it. We enjoy being around her." He claims they are as much friends as family.
Mrs. Stiles says, "I think I can tackle anything that comes along." And it looks like she can. This amazing lady will celebrate her 93rd birthday in October. Happy birthday Anna Stiles!
