Biographical Summary:

Anna was born to John Eagar and Sariah Anna Johnson. Anna married Ammon Meshach Tenney, November 9, 1897 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah

Anna was Ammon's first wife, he later took two more plural wives: Eliza Ann Udall and Hettie Millicent Adams.

Anna and Ammon had ten children together:

  1. Ammon Meshach Tenney, Jr. (1868 - 1951)
  2. Anna Sariah "Minnie" Tenney (1870 - 1944)
  3. Nathan Cram Tenney (1871 - 1957)
  4. Levi Stewart Tenney (1873 - 1958)
  5. Abbey Celestia Tenney (1876 - 1883)
  6. Lois Jeannette Tenney (1879 - 1940)
  7. Luella "Lula" Maude Tenney (1882 - 1883)
  8. Rosalia Tenney (1884 - 1967)
  9. John Eagar Tenney (1887 - 1896)
  10. Lurline Tenney (1891 - 1965)

When Ammon married his third wife in Mexico; he took his other two families to Mexico, also. They settled in Colonia Diaz, Mexico. After Anna moved to Mexico, she had one more child by Ammon. One year later, she separated from him over his harsh treatment of her and her children. He moved with his other two wives to Colonia Dublan, Mexico, leaving Anna and her children in Colonia Diaz.

Anna lived in Mexico for twenty-two years.

When the Mexican revolution drove all foreigners out of Mexico in 1912, Anna left with almost nothing. She traveled out of Mexico with her children and other relatives, Ammon did not help her get out of Mexico; he was with his third wife elsewhere in Mexico.

After leaving Mexico, Anna spent about a year and a half with her mother, Sariah Anna Johnson Tenney Workman, in southern Utah. She then moved to St. Johns, Arizona, where she had lived as a young mother years earlier; this time, she lived with her married daughter, Lurline Tenney Whiting. Anna was still living with her daughter in St. Johns in the 1920 and 1930 U.S. censuses.

She later went to Salt Lake City, Utah and spent some time with her daughter, Lois Jeannette Tenney Lemmon.

Later, her daughter, Anna Sariah (Minnie) Tenney Coleman, invited her mother to live with her in Thatcher, Arizona.

Anna died of old age in Thatcher, Arizona; she was 83 years old.

She is buried next to her husband and his other wives..."
