Stafford County, Virginia Deed Book P, page 67-71. This Indenture made 18th August 1755 between WILLIAM ADAMS of Parish of Truroe in County Fairfzx & ANN his wife and HENRY FITZHUGH JUNR. of St. Paul's Parish County Stafford.. Witneaseth ... by deeds of lease & release ... for 15 pounds lawful money of Virginia hath sold tract whereon JANE RIGBY Widow and Relict of ALEXANDER RIGBY late of said County now lives containing 50 acre in Parish of St. Pauls Stafford County & being formerly property of EDWARD LAWYER late of this County who held the same in ffee Simple & in his Last Will & Testament date 8th January 1739/40 bequeathed same to his Grand daughter ANN LAWYER who intermarried with and is now the Wife of WILLIAM ADAMS .. Bounded as followeth .. Beginning at a comar tree of land of THOMAS LUND being an Oak in the brow of a hill .. to an oak standing in line,of land formerly belonging to Mr. DOWDING which tree is the dividing line of THOMAS O DONEAL both purchases extending along the Dividing line to first beginning ..,Presence Wm. I. William^ Adams (1723-1809) who was prominent in county affairs served as
a colonel in the Fairfax County Militia, Truro Parish processioner in 1775, sher-
iff in 1768, vestryman of Truro Parish in 1765, and justice of Fairfax County in
1770.

Adams married Ann Lawyer (1732-88) of Stafford County and they had issue:

  • 1) Simon Adams who married Catherine Wren
  • 2) (The Reverend) William^ Adams, Jr.
  • 3) (The Reverend) Samuel Adams who married Hannah Wren
  • 4) (The Reverend) Wesley Adams who was married four times: a) Catherine Alexander Binns, b) Ann Summers, c) Elizabeth Hughes, and d) Priscilla Larkin. Upon his father's death, Wesley inherited Colonel William Adams' dwelling house and plantation.
  • 5) John Adams who married Sarah
  • 6) Sarah Adams who married (The Reverend) William Walters
  • 7) Edward Adams who married Jemima West
  • 8) Ann Adams who married Colonel George Minor
  • 9)Susannah Adams who married twice: a) Lewis Hipkins, and b) Richard Wren
  • 10) Margaret Adams ( - ca. 1805) who married (The Reverend) John Childs
