MADISON — A. Marie Bersing, Mrs Otis Bersing, died on Monday, June 20, 1988, at a local nursing home.

Marie was the daughter of Albert B. and Amelia (Torkelson) Peterson. She was born 11 January 1901 in Blair. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Music School in 1923 and in 1946 she obtained a Library Science Degree. She taught Music and French in Blair High School. At retirement, she was employed at U.W. Medical School Library.

She married Otis Bersing in 1925. They had a daughter, Marilyn, who died in 1963. Otis preceded her in death in 1978. She was a loyal U.W. alumnus and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She is survived by her brother, Eugene C. Peterson of Madison; a niece, Mrs. Russell (Jane) Fogo of Richland Center; a nephew, Daniel A. Peterson of Colts Neck, NJ; cousins; and many friends. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest A. Peterson in 1916, and Basil I. Peterson in 1979.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road. Reverend Richard Larson will officiate. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Blair. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the U.W. foundation or to Bethel Lutheran Church.
