Oct 21, 1586. Here lyeth Anne Musgrave being murdered the 19th of the said month by With the shot if a pistol in her own house of Raby Cote by one Robert Beckworth. She was daughter of Jack Musgrave Capt. of Bewcastle, Knt. She was marryed to Thomas Chamber, of Raby Coat and had issue six sons ...(1)

- "As Beckwith was not a local name, it may be suspected that this meant a feud somehow connected with wild doings on the Bewcastle border." (2)
- Ann Musgrave, a daughter of Captain Jack Musgrave knight of Bewcastle, Cumberland, England married Thomas Chambers. She was murdered by shot of pistol through the window of their home at Raby Cote, Holm Cultram parish, Cumberland in 1586. The obvious supposition is that the murder was part of a Border Reiver family feud. ... That would tough to sort out the Musgraves had a three hundred year blood fued with the Dacres and also fueded with the Armstrongs,Irvines and Grahams among others... (3)
