Lord Anne Douglas-Hamilton was married to Anna Powell and had two sons, Lt. Col.James Douglas-Hamilton (1746–1804) and Admiral Charles Powell Douglas-Hamilton (1747–1825). However, in 1734 he had already had an illegitimate son by Mary Edwardes, named Gerard Anne Edwardes. Gerard went on to marry Lady Jane Noel.
