Anne Ruthven, here treated, is the daughter of John Ruthven, Music Master and burgess of Glasgow, and Marion Peadie. She was born before 13 September 1719, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her baptismal record reads as follows: "Mr. John Ruthven & Marrion Peady a lawfull daugh[ter] Anne wit Alexander Porterfield & James Christy". Anne Ruthven is reported to have died at Glasgow on 1 April 1814 aged 95. Fasti of the Church of Scotland II: 136 She was buried there on 5 April 1814. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Deaths, reference OPR.644/1/52]
