Anne Talsma

Anne Talsma was born December 6, 1917 to Klaas and Anna (Van Amyden) Hoek on a farm near Chandler, MN, Murray County. She was baptized in the Christian faith and attended Country School District #83 and also Chandler Public Schools. As a young woman she worked at the Chandler Grocery Store.

On March 23, 1939 Anne married John Talsma in Holland, MN and they made their home near Chandler for several years before returning to the Holland area for a short time. They bought a farm and settled near Chandler where they remained until Anne entered an apartment in Edgerton in August 2001. In 2004 Anne became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.

Anne will always be remembered as a hard working wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Chandler where she was active in the church women’s groups, past Sunday School teacher, Dorcas Society, and SWCH Circle.  Anne enjoyed reading embroidery, both vegetable and flower gardening, and caring for the chickens and their eggs on the farm. Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her children and their families, and traveling to make these many visits.

On Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, MN Anne went to be with her Lord at the age of 89.

Anne is survived by her three sons, Ron (Faith) Talsma of Bellflower, CA, James (Harriet) Talsma of Edgerton, MN and John (Leona) Talsma of Chandler, MN; three daughters, Carol (Dave) Bickle of Kalamazoo, MI, Mary Ann Talsma of Hawaiian Gardens, CA and Dorrene (Dan) Pearson of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Min Huisken of Edgerton, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
