Thackeray, Mrs., She was Ann, daughter of John Woodward, the Eton College butler, and widow of Thomas Thackeray, headmaster of Harrow. On her husband's death she returned to her early home at Eton and kept a fashionable boarding-house. See Lady Ritchie's Miss Angela chap. xxiv. The family lived in the house in Keate's Lane next to Prior's.
