ANNETTE PERKINS CORKERN:

Annette Perkins Corkern departed this life on Friday, June 15, 2007. Age 94 years. She was the daughter of the late Berent Thompson Perkins and Emily Brown Perkins, born May 12, 1913. She was baptized in 1913 as a Lutheran and confirmed in the Christian Faith at First English Lutheran Church in 1926. Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband Murphy Wilson Corkern, Sr. Together they had six children: Annette C. Leblanc (Nolan), Hazel C. Rosenthal Gaudet (Calvin), Louise C. Davenport (Charles), Carolyn C. Huerstel (Michael), Murphy W. Corkern, Jr. (Sandra), and Berent Isaac Corkern. There are 9 grandchildren: Emily D. Bethancourt, Andrea G. Blalock, Michael Huerstel, Jr., Robert Huerstel, Jason Corkern, Kevin Corkern, Nathan LeBlanc, Dwayne LeBlanc and Philip LeBlanc. The six great-grandchildren are Jonathan and Joshua Bethancourt, Natalie LeBlanc, Madisyn Huerstel, Shelby Blalock and Karyle LeBlanc.

Annette was a devoted wife for 58 years and loving mother to her six children. She was an active member of her church Mt. Calvary Lutheran in New Orleans, Zion Lutheran in Bogalusa, Our Savior in New Orleans, and Christ Lutheran in Chalmette. After Hurricane Katrina, Holy Trinity Lutheran in Covington accepted her into membership. At Mt. Calvary she was active as a volunteer helping produce brail books for the blind. Annette was a true example of how to live your life as a Christian. She will be truly missed.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Services will be celebrated in the Chapel of SCHOEN FUNERAL HOME, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, on Monday, June 18, 2007, at 1:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Christ Lutheran Church in Chalmette, 11417 Hampton Ct., Denham Springs, LA 70726 preferred.
