About Annette Parkinson Richards

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Annette Parkinson Nibley Richards passed away on July 18, 2008 surrounded by members of her family whom she loved.

Annette was born August 19, 1926 to Preston and Ann Parkinson Nibley. She was raised in Salt Lake City, and attended East High School. She graduated from the University of Utah where she was affiliated with the Chi Omega Sorority. She married her childhood sweetheart, Lynn Stephen Richards, Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple on December 14, 1948 and they have remained sweethearts for nearly 60 years. More than anything she loved her family, always serving and encouraging them. Each member of the family felt the special love she had for them. Those who married into the family also felt that same love. They enjoyed a rich tradition of family togetherness at their cabin on Hebgen Lake where she spent her final days. The children, their spouses, and grandchildren commend her for her devotion, support, and many expressions of love. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and because of her love of her Heavenly Father, His children and the gospel, she served as primary president, relief society president, and in the young women organization. She also enjoyed her service as a Beehive House guide for six years. Alongside her husband, she served in the Inner City Mission in Salt Lake City, twice in the Philippines, twice in Nauvoo and as the matron of the Bountiful Temple.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Ann Nibley, sisters, Elenor Budge, and Lucy Murdoch. She is survived by her husband, Lynn Stephen Richards, Jr., brother, Preston (Betty) Nibley, children; Ann (Brian) Homer, Stephen (Carol) Richards, David (Michele) Richards, Mary (Mark) Durham, Preston (Liz) Richards, Irene (Paul) Rytting, Mark (Suzanne) Richards, 48 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
