Annie Milne was born at Viewfield, Milne Road, Hakatermea, Otago, New Zealand.
Her father farmed Viewfield and his twin brother William Hillside just up the hill on Milne Road named after them.
Her mother died soon after she was born in childbirth. She went to school and had to ride a horse over many streams and when they were in flood could not go to school.
She was a petite lady only 5ft with an 18inch waist as a girl but that soon changed on marriage and 8 children.
Her husband Fred a lawyer of Oamaru started to build her a" Federation House" on the Hill of Oamaru when WW1 Intervened and they could not get supplies to build their house. When the war finished they did build it and her father bought the house along side to make sure her husband was looking after her. He died 4 years later. Shortly after this they moved to Timaru as Fred was made Crown Prosecutor where they stayed only a short time till moving to Wellington as a circuit Court Judge in 1925 and bought the house at 13 Wade Street, Wadestown. They had nannies and other help in the large house.
Annie had 8 children, one died in childbirth.
Six of her seven live children became Medical Doctors and her eldest William (Bill) an accountant and Cecil(Dick) was a lawyer before WW2.
She liked to have a flutter on the horses.
Unfortunately she had suffered a stroke and was bed ridden with the mental age of 2 by the time our family came to live in Wade Street from Ireland to look after her until she died.
