About Anton Sticha

Again grim death has visited a happy community and taken from its midst a loved friend and neighbor. At his home in this city on Wednesday morning March 2nd, 1898, died Anton Sticha at the ripe age of 78 years.

Deceased was born in Bohemia, Europe, in 1822, and married in 1846 to Mary Skarda. After 7 children were born to them, which was in 1861, they crossed the ocean to this country, and fitting himself for his allotted work, he engaged in farming in this vicinity. He toiled on farms since his immigration until 9 years ago, when he retired, and settled down to lead an easy life in this city. All went along nicely until 3 or 4 months ago, when he first complained of not being well. About a week ago he took seriously sick, and this lasted until the final termination.

Thirteen children were born to them, Nine of the children being married, and one is yet single.

The deceased was a man of good character, winning the respects of all who met his acquaintance, the highest esteem of his neighbors and friends and the deep love of all in the home. There is none, even among the younger acquaintances but will remember him as “a nice old man.”

To those who survive him the people of the community extend sympathy in these their moments of distress.

The funeral will take place Saturday morning from St. Wenceslaus Catholic church at 10:00 o’clock A. M., and the remains will be interred in the Catholic cemetery.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE
