Ardith M. Daugherty, 77, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away suddenly on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, O. Born at Tappan, O., on Nov. 16, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Herman and Lillian Olive (Gatchell) Rainsberg. Ardith was a lifelong resident of the area, having graduated from Bowerston High School before working for a time as Bowerston's telephone operator prior to her marriage. On Feb. 14, 1953, she married Ralph E. Daugherty Sr., with whom she enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage. From that time on, she devoted her life to her family as a loving wife to Ralph and, as time went on, a loving mother to her son, Ralph E. "Ed" Daugherty Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Uhrichsville, and daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Kathy) Tornabene of Florence, Miss., and Mrs. Timothy (Linda) Givens of Harriman, Tenn. Ardith was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Ardith is survived by a brother, Beatty Rainsberg and his wife, Barbara, of Bowerston, and many nieces and nephews, as well. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Ralph and Thomas Rainsberg; and four sisters, Betty Price, Mary Scott, and infants, Thelma and Peggy Jean Rainsberg. Ardith was a longtime member of Feed Spring Church where she had been very active over the years, including attending Bible study, helping with Bible School and playing the piano and organ for worship. She also enjoyed caring for her home and family, especially cooking, tending her flowers and crocheting. Services for Ardith, officiated by Pastor Milo Baker, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Feed Spring Church near Uhrichsville. Interment will follow in Tunnel Hill Cemetery at Bowerston. Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Those wishing to honor Ardith's memory by a charitable donation are encouraged to do so to Feed Spring Church. R.K. Lindsey
