About Armenio Gaetano Scalone
Armenio Scalone emigrated to the United States from his birthplace in Ponticello a suburb of Naples, Italy on April 10, 1895 aboard the SS Neckaro settling originally in Stanford, Connecticut. He lived with Vincent and Rose Baccurrussi while working originally as a locksmith. Eventually, Armenio worked for a tobacco processing company as a cigarette roller. He married Carmela Del'Aquila on March 24, 1904 and moved to Brooklyn and then settled finally in Corona, Queens, New York. While raising a family of 10 children he owned a barber shop and real estate office serving the people of Corona, Queens. He returned to Italy in 1914 and reentered the United States that same year. He was naturalized a citizen on February 1, 1915. In 1931, he was president of the Corona Heights Civic Association. The children were: Christopher, Anna, Rocco, John, Gilbert, Daisy, Joseph, Teresa, Odell and Christopher.
