Arnold V (12 ?? - August 22 1328 ) was Count of the county Loon from 1279 to 1323 .  He was from 1299 also count of the county Chiny (later located in Luxembourg) and the Namur Agimont .  He was in 1280 married Margaret of Vianden, daughter of Count Philip I of Vianden .  Van Loon was the son of Jan van Loon (-1 279) and Mathilde van Gulik, a daughter of Count William IV of Jülich . 
Arnold founded in 1295 an Loons eigenhof (or allodial court) on.  For this would all allodia appear that were located within the county.  He therefore tried to reduce the impact of the Casa Dei, the Liège eigenhof. 
When his uncle Louis childless died in 1299, Arnold won the County of Chiny. 
Arnold worked for the Flemish party because he was vassal Guy of Dampierre , the Count of Flanders , for Agimont.  When the Golden Spurs on July 11 1302 to a confrontation occurred between Guy and King Philip IV of France , he was not present with his forces.  Like many others, he probably did not believe in victory and he made a detour and visited John II, Duke of Brabant .  Arnold was an ally of his father, John I of Brabant, including during the Battle of Woeringen because his archenemy, the prince-bishop of Liege was in the other camp.  Two of Arnold's vassals, and Jan Willem van Pietersheim , it took part in the Battle of the Spurs. 
In 1313 Arnold Chiny abdicated in favor of his son , Louis IV and in 1323 he also wore him about Loon.

Arnold and Margaret had 5 children: 
Louis IV was the next Earl of Loon. 
Mathilde van Loon (1282-1313) was the country Vogelsanck consisting of Zonhoven , Zolder , Houthalen and the southern part of Heusden in 1308 as dowry from her father when she Godfrey of Heinsberg (the father of Diederik of Heinsberg ) married.  Until the French occupation these territories would remain part of the Land of Vogelzang a free barony was around 1600. 
Johanna van Loon who married William of Oreye, lord of Rummen .  Arnold Rummen was a son from this marriage. 
Margaretha van Loon who married in 1328 at William Neufchâteau.
