About Arsenio Quiñones

Arsenio Quiñones was the third of eight children of Petronilo R. Quiñones and Julia Valdez. He was baptized by H. Rooms, and his godparents at the time of his baptism were Ernesto Angeles, of Brgy. Santo Tomas, Pasig, and Presentacion Q. Demerry, of Cebu, Cebu. His first two given names are derived from his paternal grandfather and Philip Neri, respectively, while his third given name is a nickname. He dropped out during his college, but he finished his course in piano at the conservatory of music in the University of Santo Tomas. In life, he focused on piano that awarded him few times. After that, he became a book vendor during his life in Valenzuela, Bulacan (present-day Valenzuela City, Metro Manila). He struggled with alcoholism and chain smoking, that led to throat cancer. As a result, he died of cardiac failure due to cardiac myopathy. He was embalmed, and interred at Loyola Memorial Chapels & Crematorium in Makati, Rizal (present-day Metro Manila). He was buried at Saint John Cemetery in Brgy. Karuhatan, Valenzuela, Bulacan (present-day Metro Manila).
