- Notes: Arthur E. "Art" Bloomer, Jr., passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born in Cape Cod, MA on March 28, 1929 to Arthur Sr. and Eliza Bloomer. Art grew up in Ocean View, which he loved dearly. He was a Granby High School graduate. He retired from the United States Navy, Civil Service and the Naval Reserves. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Margie Bloomer; and sister, Lucille Hamrick. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Karen (Steve), Sheryl (Don), and Julia (Ernie); four grandchildren, Codie, Miles, Angela and Julianna; and five great grandsons, Dylan, Ian, Westin, Christian and Rohan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel on Friday, November 18, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Chris E. Fosback officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. Special thanks to Tina and Lorna of Sentara Hospice.
