William Hacker (1594-1661), a Quaker, immigrated to America in 1630 and settled at Lynn, Massachusetts. His son, George Hacker (1647-1702) and his wife, Bethiah Meachum (1644-1709), had eight children, 1673-1694. The family lived at Salem, Massachusetts. Record chiefly follows line of descent to the author's father, Arthur Heathcote Hacker (1871-1927). He was born at Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of William Hacker (1834-1898) and Hannah Jones Wistar Hacker (1835-1921). He married Emily Pepper (1880-1950) in 1902. They had two sons born on Staten Island, New York. Most descendants lived in Pennsylvania or New Hampshire.
