Dinner was served at 6:30 at home to relatives & few friends. Couple m Nov 3 1898 in Oneida by late Rev Maxfield, then pastor of Baptist Church. Mr Kinney is night jailor at Wampsville Jail. Amg guests at dinner were Mr & Mrs Clarence Inman, Mr & Mrs Kenneth Seitz, Mr & Mrs Lynn Kinney & family, Mr & Mrs Clarence Kinney & Miss Peggy Esengard of Rome. Couple was presented w/magazine rack.
  • From research of David L Sadler: Oneida Daily Dispatch regarding Charles' brother Fred Kinney, died Oct 10 1913: OBIT: Fred Kinney, who had suffered at different times from epileptic fits, last 1 causing him to fall on Main St Sun morning & strike his head on sidewalk, resulting in concussion of brain, d Mon morning at his rooms on James St. He b in this city Oct 2 1880 & is survived by stepmother, Mrs Jennie Kinney & 3 bro, Arthur G, Charles F, & Leon D, all of this city. Funeral was held at home of Arthur G Kinney E Walnut St, Wed afternoon & yesterday morning remains were taken to North Bay for burial.
  • From research of David L Sadler: Oneida Daily Dispatch--Arthur G Kinney Died apr 14 1950--OBIT: Funeral to be held Tues--Alderman Arthur G Kinney, 4th Ward, 460 E Walnut St, d at 11o'clock last night at City Hospital where he was admitted 2 days ago. He had been suffering from cold for several days. Death was attributed to heart condition. He was 71 yrs old. Kinney had been Alderman of 4th Ward for 14 yrs & retired Oct 1943 as night jailer at county jail at Wampsville aft 25 yrs of svc. He was mbr of St Pauls Evangelical United Brethren Church & its Brotherhood. He b at Randallsville, son of Chauncey & Hattie Brogs Kinney. He had been resident of Oneida more than 40 yrs. Surviving are wife Alfretta Butler Kinney, at home, 1 son Lynn C Kinney, Oneida; 2 dtrs, Mrs Clarence Inman, Deansboro, & Mrs Kenneth Seitz, Oneida; 1 bro Charles F Kinney, Oneida; 4 grdchildren, 2 ggrndchildren & several nieces & cousins. Svcs will be held from late home at 2pm Tues, Rev David McCleery, pastor of St Pauls Evangelical United Brethren Church officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cem. Friends may call at late home Mon afternoon & evening, at their convenience. Arrangements are in chg of Munroe Funeral Svc. Mayor Charles A Earl will make temporary appointment to fill vacancy on Council caused by Kinney's death. Special election probably will be held in Nov to elect alderman to complete final yr of his term. Kinney was appointed to Common Council Feb 28 1936 succeeding his bro Leon & had been elected to that office but died abt 1 mo bef taking office. Alderman Kinney had been elected alderman each term since then. He was past president of Common Council last serving in that position in 1947. He also served as president from 1938-1942. He was in restaurant business in Oneida for 15 yrs & prior to that was associated w/bro in bakery business. He was chief proponent of flood control work in 4th Ward, pushing for it for several yrs. Since early in 1940's money has been placed in budget annually for work on construction of dike & clearing of creek bed to aid in this flood control. Kinney also was instrumental in starting Sconondoa Playground abt 3 yrs ago. He headed committee in 1945 that arranged for city to buy that land. He led in project of bldg MacArthur Pkwy.
