Arthur Manwaring

Death Claims Long-Time Teacher, 69

Arthur Manwaring, 69, 2069 Lambourne Ave, (3145 South), Vernal school teacher for 33 years, died Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital after a coronary thrombosis.

He was an officer and member of the Utah Education Assn., representing Vernal. A former mission president for the Uintah Stake, Church of Jesus Christ, he was also president of the High Priest Quorum of the Uintah Stake.

Born March 12, 1889, in Springville, he was a son of David and Marion Atwood Manwaring.

He married Mary Theresa Hullinger October 1, 1914, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Educated in Vernal, he was a graduate of Brigham Young University, Provo. He served an LDS mission to the Central States from 1911 to 1912, served a mission in the Uintah Stake, and has been a Salt Lake Temple worker since 1953.

He moved to Salt Lake City in 1952.

SURVIVING are his widow; two sons, two daughters, Arthur Everett Manwaring, Montville, N. J.; Karl H. Manwaring, Mrs. Glenn L. (Iris) Epperson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. William (Enid) Sherman, Denver, Colo.; 17 grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, five sisters: Elmer Manwaring, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Jessie Fowler, Lavell, Ashel, Dee, Leona, Thelma Manwaring, all of Vernal; Mrs. Veda Miller, Inglewood, Calif.; Mrs. Alta Duvall, Moses Lake, Wash.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Kenwood Second LDS Ward Chapel, 2080 S. 1750 East.

Friends may call at 36 . 7th South Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the family residence, 2069 Lamborne Ave., Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
