About Arthur Vernon Rippin
Arthur Rippin (1930 - 2007)
Brief overview:
Arthur (77), driving his Opel Corsa, was hijacked on Tuesday 11th September 2007. When police found his vehicle, they went to his residence in Moore Road, Glenwood, Durban, to take a statement. They saw blood on the floor through a window. Arthur had been bludgeoned to death.
Police officers used force to gain entry to Arthur's house and found him in a spare bedroom. Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said that paramedics were shocked by what they saw. “The place had been ransacked and the walls had blood spatters,” he said.
Police Inspector Michael Read said that several items of value, which could not be disclosed, had been removed from the house. “The motive for the crime will be revealed during the course of the investigation. A docket of murder has been opened,” he said. They didn't reveal as to whether the hijackers and the murderers were the same people.
