OWOSSO AGRUS-PRESS, Wed, Aug. 15, 1934, pg. 3: A. L. STERNAMAN, 72, IS TAKEN BY DEATH: Retired Employee of Ann Arbor Railroad Had Been ill for Past Four Years: Arthur L. Sternaman, 72 years of age, a well-known resident of Owosso and retired employee of the Ann Arbor Railroad, died at his home, 123 North Lansing street at 7 o'clock last night. Mr. Sternaman had been ill for four years. He suffered a number of paralytic strokes and during those four years was confined to a wheel chair. He suffered a severe stroke last April and since then had been confined to his bed. For a number of weeks his condition was critical. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Jennings-Lyons Chapel with Rev. Eli B. Near, pastor of the Mennonite Church of Shelby, officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sternaman was born in Rainham, Ont. on February 26, 1862, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Sternaman. In 1866 the Sternaman family came to Michigan, settling at Chesaning where they resided until 1888, when they moved to Owosso. At Oak Grove in Livingston County Mr. Sternaman was married on June 10, 1893 to Miss Flora Youngs. They settled in Owosso where they have always made their home. At that time Mr. Sternaman was employed by the Woodward Furniture Company, where he remained for 18 years. About 1900 he was given employment at the shops of the Ann Arbor Railroad here. He was oil house man in the storekeeper's department when he retired on September 4, 1929, because of his health. Surviving are the widow and four sons: Roy A. Sternaman of Chicago, Walter L. Sternaman of Owosso, Kenneth W. Sternaman of Flint and Harley A. Sternaman of San Bernardino, Calif. There is a sister, Mrs. Carrie Hodges of Flint and eight grandchildren.
