CAPPELKX Kuneral services for Arthur Sutherland Cappelen, 48 years old, 4261 Linden Hills boulevard, a lifelong resident of Minneapolis, who died Friday at U. S. Veterans' hospital, will be held Monday at 10 a.m., at Davies' Mortuary, 1403 Harmon place, with burial in Lakewood ceme tery. He was the only surviving son of the man for whom, the Cappelen bridge across the Mississippi river is named, Frederick W. Cappelen, city engineer for 25 years. He was born in Minneapolis July 9, 1SS4, and was a graduate of Central high school. He served overseas with the 457th Engineers of the second division in which he was a despatch motorcycle rider. He was employed as district manager of the Cincinnati Ball Crank company of Cincinnati. He had been with the Shubert stock com pany here and toured the Keith vaudeville circuit for 12 years. Mr. Cappelen was married to Hel en Spaulding, daughter of Mis George S. Spaulding of The Learning ton. When a hotel clerk in Peoria, 111., handed Mrs. Agnes Lee Cappelen two- letters addressed to her husband. Arthur S. Cappelen, he little suspected he was lighting the fuse of a marital bombshell. Mrs. Cappelen, formerly an actress with "The Bird of Paradise"1 company, has Instituted divorce proceedings here with the two letters as her reasons. One letter purported to come from a Mrs. Sue Kdmondson of Portland, Or. In the other letter from another woman the writer said she ' woke up in the morning "with your kisses on my face and found to my disappointment I was hugging the piBow."

Cappelen, city engineer, arrived at Newport News, Va., yesterday with other Minnesota members of tbe 695th engineers, according to a telegram from him received by his father last night. The regiment returned on the. transport Black Arrow, at first scheduled to dock in New York, but later changed to Newport News. Men of the regiment were taken to Camp Stuart, from there to be sent to camps for discharge. The regiment was in France a vear and a half.
