About Arthur Wilhelm Trauseld
Arthur Wilhelm (Will) Trauseld was born 13th November 1878 in Cape Town, the only surviving son of immigrants Carl and Catherine Trauseld.
He married Catharina Dorothea (Kate) Wolmarans on the 13th Aug 1906 in Johannesburg. They had two children:
- Frances Catharina Trauseld b.9 Nov. 1908
- William Rudolph Trauseld b. 4 March 1911
During the 1920's and 30's Will Trauseld worked for the mechanical and electrical engineering firm of Hubert Davies and Co. He also (later?) worked for Siemens South Africa. Will and Kate lived on the corner of Church and Leonard Streets, Kenilworth, Johannesburg, during which time Will was recorded as permanent Secretary of the Loyal South Rand Lodge of the Freemasons.
Will divorced Kate c.1930, and married secondly (date unknown) Magrietha Elizabeth (Toots) Jooste nee McDermott, with whom he had:
- Norman Trauseld (adopted )
- Arthur Trauseld b.1932
Will and Toots lived on large farm in Craighall, Johannesburg, where they farmed fruit, and later a smaller farm in Victory Park (site of the later King David High School). Will died on the 27th Dec 1942 in Johannesburg.
