A. L. Warren, one of the Herald's good friends living in Calhoun township, was over last Saturday. He owns 480 acres of land over there and it keeps him busy most of the time.

Les Warren, who for a number of years had lived in this country north and east of Wheeler, passed away last Tuesday. Funeral services are to be held in Bird City this afternoon.

Arthur Leslie Warren was born December 21, 1880, at Fostoria, Pottawatomie county Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Warren, and passed away at his home, December 16, 1941, at the age of 60 years, 11months, and 25 days. He suffered from a paralytic stroke since March 6, 1939. Everything was done for him that loving ha do could do.

Arthur Leslie Warren was born December 21, 1880, at Fostoria, Pottawatomie County Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Warren, and passed away at his home, December 16, 1941, at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 25 days. He has suffered from a paralytic stroke since March 6, 1939. everything was done for him that loving hands could do.
He came to Cheyenne county, Kansas, with the family in spring of 1893. He was the fifth child of a family of eight, his father, mother, sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
The leaves, three brothers and one sister, Jim of Rising City, Nebraska; Austin of Colorado Springs,
Colorado; Lee of Perkins, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Jim Cooper of St. Francis, Kansas. He was married to Miss Dora Patten of Bird City, September 12, 1917.
To this union 9 children were born. One little daughter, Vera, preceded him in death in November 1937.
He leaves to morn his departure, besides his wife, the following children. Arthur, Lona now Mrs. Francis
Hansen of Imperial, Nebraska, Arnold, Frank, Guy, Lindy, Verna, and Gene, all at home; Also one grand-daughter, Judy Ann Hansen, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Warren was loyal to his family, always having their welfare at heart.
He was one of the leaders in his community, as he was instrumental in getting the mail route, and telephone lines in the neighborhood. He was proud of the school and served on the board for many years.

His voice, it is stilled,
A place in our hearts, can never be filled.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Bird City Methodist church with Rev. R. H. Parrott, officiating. Internment was made beside his daughter in the Bird City cemetery under the direction of the Trickett Funeral Home,
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Frances Hansen, and daughter of Imperial, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. 0. A. Watten of Colorado Springs. Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Patten, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Parsons and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patten and Mr. and Mrs. Don Patten and family of Trenton, Nebraska, and Mr. Otis Warren of Benkelman. Nebraska.

Also found a court record for A. Leslie Warren in 1928 (I think, might have been 1924) anyway he was arrested for intent to kill with a knife on a man named Johnson. He was fined $250. also found the Bird City Bank sued J. S. Cooper and A. Leslie Warren for $938 each but don't know what it was for other than they didn't pay a lout This date was 1928 and the other one was 1924. however I might have them mixed up. I do know that Dad always was afraid to buy land as his father had tried and lost the farm. Don't know if this was for that or not. However I never heard that he and Leslie would have tried to buy a farm together. I didn't copy this court records but if you want them I can go get them. Dad always talked about Leslie Warren being a pretty mean person.
