ugust was born in the old country and came to America with his parents and siblings in the 1872-1873 period.

He lived on the Reck Homestead in American Valley with his family and eventually took over the operation of the family farm.

Before taking over the farm , he settled in Waumandee and worked as a shoemaker for a number of years.

He married Mary Ressel on May 15, 1877 in North Creek- rural Arcadia.

He later sold the Reck Homestead to his son George and purchased another farm in Korpal Valley and farmed there until 1915 when the couple moved to the City of Arcadia.
