About Augusta Josephine Wright

Thursday last Mrs. Amos Wright died at her home on Wooster street between Front and Second, aged about 48 years. The circumstances surrounding Mrs. Wright's death are particularly sad.

One evening some days before her death her fourteen year old son was in the barn in the rear of their house when Mrs. Wright went into the backyard. Thinking to scare her boy she jumped out at him as he was coming out of the barn saying "boo". She then passed on and entered the out house.

The boy thinking to scare his mother in return and thinking the door of the out house was closed picked up a piece of a brick and threw it at what he thought was the closed door; but the door was open and the missile struck Mrs. Wright in the forehead.

The wound was dressed and it was thought that it was in no wise dangerous. But complications set in, paralysis affected her face and throat, her throat began to swell and after several days of suffering she gave up the struggle and passed away beyond the river at the time above stated.

The funeral which was an exceedingly large one took place from the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon and her remains were laid away in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Wright was a woman who by her amiable qualities and quiet life had endeared herself to all who knew her. She leaves behind her a husband and a large family of children who are deeply sympathized with by the entire community.
