Aurelina (65), a Portugese woman, originally from Achadas Da Cruz, Madeira, was strangled to death, and her husband, Cirineu (72), was assaulted, at their home in Tulisa Park, Johannesburg, on 18th December 2005. The couples son, José, went to check on his parents when he was unable to contact them. Aurelina was found in the passage, and Cirineu was found with his hands tied up behind his back, and in a serious condition.
Cirineu Ribeiro, who lost both of his legs from diabetes, suffered a broken arm.
