He died at his son Austin's home: Revolutionary War as private in Capt. Edward shipman's Co., Col. Webb's Regt, CT Troops, 7th Regt., 8 Jul to 17 Dec 1775 ; Austin left CT for NY prior to 1800; . All children b. Chester Parish, Saybrook, CT Jerusha died July 1843 in Freetown, Cortland Co., NY Had 8 children: Jerusha B., Ezra A., Rebecca, Betsey,Polly, Austin, Ashbell, and Rosamond
They migrated from Granville,Washington Co., NY, to Freetown, Cortland Co,, NY in 1810 with their first six children; a frame house was built around 1850 on the hill road, which burned May 1924. At about the same time, Sally's parents, John & Jerusha (Baker) Backus came, followed by most of their 9 children and their families.
