Avis R Mummert

Mummert, Avis Shervey Age 87, Minnetonka, died peacefully May 13 after a short illness. Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Olga Shervey, her sister Esther Shervey, and her husband Dale. Survived by daughters, Kristin (William) Leonard, MaryJane (James) Crawford, and Anne (Robert) Cagen; grandchildren, Aaron (Ana), Joshua and Teigen Leonard, Nichol (Gary) Wilson, and Mose, Eli, and Emily Cagen; and great-grandchildren, Elijah and Anya Wilson. Avis and Dale married immediately after World War II in New Jersey where Avis had served as a link trainer in the WAVEs while Dale served in the Army in the Philippines, Guam, and Australia. An accomplished musician, Avis was a piano teacher, church organist, and favorite accompanist of many vocalists. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 25, at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church, Minne- tonka. Private interment at Zion Lutheran Church, Watson, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Library Foundation of Hennepin County or the Zion Restoration Society of Watson, MN.
