Azariah Vann

Azariah Vann was the son of Thomas Vann and Martha Buchanan Vann. The Vanns moved with their large family from North Carolina to north Alabama before 1820. Azariah married Eliza Ann McCutchen in the late 1830s. Their children were John C. Vann, Martha Vann, Joseph W. Vann, Thomas J. Vann, and Macklin Morris Vann. By 1850, Eliza was a 34 year old widow living with her 5 children next door to her parents, Joseph W. McCutchen and Mary Tabitha Caruthers McCutchen in Jackson County, Alabama. She died in 1859, and three of her sons were living with their grandmother McCutchen in 1860. John was married and living with his wife, but Joseph, Thomas, and Macklin are in the home with their grandmother. Daughter Martha died between 1850 and 1860 but her death date is unknown.
