Burwell Boykin Salmond studied law, but abandoned it to work for his dad at the bank in Camden. He married Nancy Louisa Cunningham on December 28, 1843. When he wasn't named the next president at the bank, he left and moved to Pickens County, Alabama where his wife had inherited a planation from her father. When the Civil War broke out, he enlisted in Wheeler's Calvary. He was killed in an accident near Tupelo, MS. His commission as Captain came a few days after his death. Captain Salmond's loyal friend, C. L. Stone, returned his body to Aliceville after the war ended.
