Banning Norton DeGood, son of Nathaniel Dustin DeGood and Margaret Luse,was born on Mon. 25 Aug 1856 in Delaware County, Ohio.

in 1865 Banning and his parents were residents in Reading Township, Livingston County, Illinois. The family relocated to a farm in Locust Grove Township, Jefferson County, Iowa in 1868.

At age 24, Banning Norton DeGood married Phebe May Campbell, daughter of William M. Campbell and Nancy P. Truman, on Sat. 25 Dec 1880 in Batavia, Jefferson County, Iowa. Bessie May DeGood, daughter of Banning Norton DeGood and Phebe May Campbell, was born on 09 Dec 1881 in Abingdon, Jefferson County, Iowa.

Phebe May (Campbell) DeGood died from consumption on Mon. 31 Mar 1884 in Abingdon, Jefferson County, Iowa at age 25 years, 10 months and 13 days leaving Banning as a widower.

At age 30, Banning Norton DeGood married Elizabeth Hale Walker, daughter of Jonathan Walker and Anne Molden, on 18 Nov 1886 at the home of the bride's parents near Batavia, Jefferson County, Iowa. The marriage service was performed by Andrew Smith.

He was buried on Sat. 26 Mar 1938 in Balltown Cemetery, Little Osage Township, Vernon County, Missouri
