Baptiste Cardinal is the son of Laurent Cardinal and his wife Marie Magnon (ake Marie Mondion, or Marie Moignon). He was born at Lac la Biche in the North West Territories in 1846. The metis script application which Francs Hope made in the name of her deceased first husband continues: "Baptiste Cardinal died of small pox on the road between Carlton and Lac la Biche. He had gone down from Lac la Biche to Carlton on some business for the H. B. Co - and was taken ill with small pox at Carlton where his brother; Dominique Cardinal, went to fetch him back to Lac la Biche - Dominique Cardinal returned alone also sick of the small pox and reported the death of Baptiste as having taken place near Jack Fish Lake, towards the begining of October. Death

Baptiste Cardinal died on Smallpox in October 1870.
