The Will of Barant Simons, Hunterdon Co. 1752, Estate #323J. No probate issued for want of the proof of the ***.

In the name of God Amen the twentieth Day of March in the year of our Lord 1752.

I Barant Simons of the township of Reading and County of Hunterdon & Westerin Division of New Jersey Cordwainer being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be to God there for calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discreation of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as touching such Worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to Bestow upon me in this life I give, devise and Despose of the same in manner and form following, despose, First It is my will &c, do order that in the first place all my Just debts and Funeral Charges be paid and satisfied.

Likewise I give and bequeath unto Appolonia my dearly beloved Wife the use of all the money that appertains or [***] belonging to my Estate, for during her lifetime.

Item. I give to my belovd. son Aaron Simons five pounds at eight shillings pounce with the provisn. he Discharges & pays a bond and takes up the said bond & delivers it up [to] my son Simon Simons - being in the possession of [cone Rod Dinarck.] in York.

Item I give and Allow my beloved Daughter Catharen Frew twenty pounds at eight shillings pounce to be paid after her Mother's Discease. Likewise to my Daughter Nelly Johnson I give & bequeath twenty pounds after her Mother's Discease. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Wankey Wimmer fifteen pounds of like money as above said likewise I give and bequeath gran Daughter Deborrah Froom five pounds, when she is of Age with the provisn. she remaines & lives with her gran Mother, Likewise I constitute make and ordain Thoms. Bowman Senr. & Jacob Wanderbilt my only and sole Executors of this my last will and Testament And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke & Disanul all & every other former will Testaments Legacies & Executors by me in any ways before this time Named willed & bequested. Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament.

Vinard Vandwender & Tunis Low, Two of the Witnesses to the annexed Will being sworn on The Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did severally Depose that they saw Barant Simons the Testator in the annexed Will named sign and seal the same and heard him publish pronounce & declare the annexed Instrument to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof the said Testator was of Sound and Disposing mind and memory as far as the said Depts. know and as they verily believe and that Patrick Fitzgerald the other subscribing Witness was present and signed his name as a Witness to the said Will together with the said Deponents in the presence of the said Testr. and in the presence of each other.
