In the Name of God Amen

I Barbara Funkhauser, Widow of Christian Funkhauser deceased being at present in perfect health and sound memory Thanks be unto God Almighty for the same taking into mind and the Mortality of Mankind make this to be my last Will and Testament that is to say first and formeost I recommend my soul into the hands f God Almighty who gave it to me as for my body it is my Will and desire that the same be buried in a decent Christian Like Manner at the direction of my Executors. Concerning such worldly affairs as I shall leave behind me it is my will and desire that the same be disposed unto my dear beloved children in the following manner and form(viz)

Item I give and gequeat unto my youngest daughter Barbara Funkhauser over and above her equal share one complete Bed & Bedstead with furniture and the Sum of ten shillings which she may either lay out for Pewter or Iron Potts agreable to her mind over and above her equal share with the rest of my other children.

Item I give and bequeat all such Effects what I shall live behind after my decease when all just Debts and what I have bequeted unto my five other named children is paid out or the same unto my Six Children (viz) my three Sons John Six, Issac Six and David Funkhauser and my three Daughtes Barbara Funkhauser, Elizabeth Six wife of Adam Poke and Chaterine Six wife of William Stoner to be divided among my siad Six Children ineual shares.

I say I give and bequeat unto my aforesaid Six Children in equal shares.

I say I give and bequeat unto my aforesaid Six Children their Heirs Choehirs and assign fore as all what is said above by me.

And lastly I hereby Constitute and appoint my son Issac Six and My Son in law Adam Poke Executors to see this my Last Will and testament exeduted in its true form and meaning stating this and no other to be my last Will and testament.

Jacob Sr. was in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, as early as 1724 (listed as single adult male on a tax list). His wife was name Franey (also Frances) on 1767 deed but in 1767 communion record it was listed as Verena (Verena was a Swiss name pronounced "Freney" and thus mistaken for the English name Frances. Children of Jacob and Verena, were:' Jacob Jr. b. c. 1736, m. Franey Evick; Barbara, married Gottlieb Zink, Susanna, married Philip Lawrence, Christian, married twice-Margaret Wolff and Barbara Bowman Six, Isaac, married Catherine Andrick and Abraham, b. c. 1750, married Elizabeth Rosina Brodbeck (Brubeck) and went to Beaver County, Pa

...Christian's [Funkhouser] second wife, Barbara was a daughter of Jacob Bowman Sr. who lived adjacent to Jacob Funkhouser Sr. on Tumbling Run (named as an heir in Bowman's settlement in 1778-Shen. Co. Will Book "A," pg. 529).

She first married John Six and lived on Tumbling Run and later on Stoney Creek. Barbara is listed on Rev. Carl Lange's 1767 list of Reformed communicants in Strasburg, as "Maria Barbara Sax". She had four children by John Six: John, Jr., Issac, Elizabeth and Catherine. Six died in 1773 and the children were raised by Christian Funkhouser. Barbara wrote a will in July 1797 naming all her children. The will was probated 8 June 1801 (Shen.Co. Will Book "E," pg. 430.) Descendants of Christian are covered in several works...
