Barbara Eldna Lee

FAIRFIELD -- Barbara E. Martin of Fairfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus, in Waterville, with family by her side. Barbara was born in Benton on July 4, 1922, the daughter of Elmer and Eliza (Shores) Witham. She attended Lawrence High School. She married Ancel Lee in 1939, and together they raised six children until his passing in 1959. She then married her second husband, Sumner Martin; they were married for 35 years until his passing in 1995.
She was predeceased by her parents; her two husbands; three sons, Elmer, James, and Bruce Lee; daughter Joyce Nelson; grandson Randall Lee; brother Irving Witham; sister, Pauline Bessey; daughter-in-law Linda Lee; and son-in-law Gerald Nelson.
Barbara is survived by a son, Lawrence Lee and his wife, Doreen, of Winslow; a daughter, Pamela Wallace and her husband, Robert, of China; a sister, Audrey Tyler and her husband, Ervin, of Winslow; daughters-in-law Simonne Lee of Augusta and Barbara Giggey of Skowhegan; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at a later date at Brown Cemetery in Benton. (Morning Sentinel 10/9/2009)
