About Barbara Link
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Link ranch, north of Odessa, for Mrs. Barbara Link,73, pioneer farm woman of the Odessa region, who had maintained a farm home, as a widow for 30 years. Born Jan 13, 1860, in South Russia, she had lived there until 1874 at which time she came to America, where in 1879, she was married to William Link in South Dakota, where they maintained their home for 19 years. From there they moved to Eugene, Oregon, where they lived for 12years, and where her husband died. In 1903 she moved with her family to the Odessa region, locating on the ranch north of town, where she farmed with her sons. Survived by four sons, William, Daniel, John and Carl; four daughters, Mrs. Caroline Schmierer, Mrs. Helen Schmierer, Mrs. Emma Bonneywell and Mrs. Clara; two brothers, Carl and August Link, three sisters, Amelia Kanske, Lizzy Keppel and Regina Kirkpatrick; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. ref: Odessa Record 24 Feb 1933 [excerpt]
