Barbara Patterson

Barbara Mahoney Patterson, 85, of 1434 Laurel Hill Rd., Towanda, Pa., passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Barbara was born on Jan. 3, 1930 in Towanda, the daughter of John F. and Evelyn McKernan Mahoney. She was a graduate of St. Agnes High School, Towanda. On May 6, 1950 she married John L. Patterson in Towanda. Barbara was employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Sylvania Women's Club and the Towanda Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. Barbara enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.

Surviving are her children, Charles Patterson and wife Tina of Wyalusing, John F. "Jake" Patterson of Naples, Fla., Jerry Lou VanDyne and husband David of Houston, Texas, Michael Patterson and wife Stacey of Towanda, Joseph Patterson of Towanda; 10 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Geraldine Herda and husband James of Towanda; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John L. Patterson on Dec. 12, 2013, and by her sister, Mary Bailey.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Oak Hill Cemetery, Towanda, Pa.
