Barbara Ellen Tharp

Barbara Ellen Tharp, dau. of John Wesley Tharp and Eliza Ellen Bingham, was born Sept. 1, 1877 in Laporte, Larimer Co., Colorado. She married DR. BIRDSEY PRESTON PECK , son of Elbert Eli Peck and Letitia Minerva Garten. They wed on Oct. 8, 1908 in Laporte, Colorado. He was born Feb. 28, 1875 in Clarks, Merrick Co., Nebraska. He died Mar. 9, 1948 in Eaton, Weld Co., Colorado; she died Oct. 18, 1968 at Fort Collins, Larimer Co., Colorado. Both buried at Eaton Cemetery, Eaton, Weld Co., Colorado. No children.

OBIT: Mrs. Barbara Ellen Tharp Peck, 91, died Friday at Piudre Valley Memorial Hospital. She had been living in a local nursing home. She was born Sept. 1, 1877 at Laporte. A graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, she taught school at Eaton. She was married to Dr. Birdsey Peck on Oct. 8, 1908 in Laporte.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Jake Holtz of Laporte and Mrs. Florence Baker of Los Angeles, California.

Mrs. Peck was a member of the Eaton Congregatioal Church and had beena member of Chap. 67, Order of Eastern Star in Eaton for over 50 years.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Macy-Allnutt Mortuary, Eaton Chapel. Burial will be in Eaton Cemetery with Eastern Star services at gravesite.

Note: After Dr. Peck died, my Dad (Nareen Lake's; who was Barbara's nephew) took care of "Aunt Ellen's" affairs.
