71. VI. Bathsheba (6), b. Oct. 12, 1743, d. Oct. 22, 1822, ac. 79. She married (pub. Sept. 11, 1760) William Gooding, son of Matthew, of Dighton, and Abigail (Richmond). (See No. 9.) Res. Dighton. He was Deacon of Congregational Church. His death was caused by the small pox, given him by Doct. Wm. Baylies, about 1776 or 77. Had 5 sons and 3 daus, viz:
1. William, b. Jan 18, 1761, married Lydia Andrews, and had large family. He was Deacon in Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield, New York.
2. Mary, b. Aug. 17, 1762, married Jonah Lincoln. Res. Vermont.
3. Bathsheba, b. Jan. 24, 1765, married Seth Hathaway. Res. Bristol, New York, children in 1822: Seth, Abiel, Gooding, Elnathan, Chandler, and others.
4. James, b. March 16, 1767, married Caroline Andrews, sister of Lydia. Had James, b. in B. and now of Gooding Grove, Illinois. He married secondly Phebe (No. 136), his cousin, and dau. of Peter Walker of Taunton. He was Deacon of the Congregational Church in Bristol, New York, d. in Gooding's Grove about 1848, ac. 82.
5. Ruth, b. Feb. 20, 1769, married Jonathan, son of Abiel Simmons (pub. Nov. 5, 1790). He was a clothier. Res. B. Removed about 1830 to Ohio or Illinois. Had children.
6. Elnathan, b. Oct. 15, 1771, married sister of Jonathan Simmons. Res. B. Had large family.
7. George, b. Dec. 14, 1773, married. Res. B. Was wealthy and had large family.
8. Zaphaniah, b. Sept. 25, 1777, married. Res. B.
The descendants of William Gooding, writes a grandson, have been of the medium class in wealth, capacity, and enterprise.
Mrs. Gooding married secondly Abiezer Philips. They removed to Genesee, NEw York. Had 1 dau. Lovisa, who married Col. Nathaniel Fisher. (See No. 69) He died Jan 25, 1806, in 76th year, and she went to live with her daughter. Deacon P. was Representative from Dighton, 1780 and 1783.

2nd Marriage Abiezer R. Phillips Born: November 25th 1730 in Dighton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Died: said to be in Bristol, Ontario, New York. (I believe this is so, but still researching.)
