Bathsheba Merrill

Moses Merrill (1702 - 1776) married (3) BATHSHEBA GRIMES [SIC: Kanady; Grimes was her stepfather] January 12, 1766 in Farmington, CT. She was born Aft. 1740 in Simsbury, Conn, and died after 1778.

Notes

The will of Joseph Pettibone (1762) was abstracted in The Connecticut Nutmegger, vol. 39 (2006), p. 278. He names daughter Bathsheba Grimes and granddaughters Mary, Basheba, and Thanks Canada. This tells us that Mary was likely older than Bathsheba and Thanks, that Robert Kanada and his daughter Eleanor were apparently dead by 11 Aug. 1762, when the will was written, and that Bathsheba had remarried by that date.

"Widow Bathsheba Merrills" still lived in Simsbury in 1778, when the Simsbury Tax List shows her property as one house, second highest rate, and four acres of plowed land; total evaluation £8.
