Ben Jansen van Rensburg (1950 - 2008)

Brief overview:

Ben (58) a disabled resident of the Divine Connection Ministries Care Center on the Uitzight Holdings, west of Pretoria was stabbed to death with a knife on 4th March 2008. He was found naked in his room.

Capt. Police spokesperson Prince Mokhabela said a friend of Jansen van Rensburg went to his room around 10am and found him dead there. "The deceased, who was alone in his room, was stabbed in the torso with a knife, nothing was stolen." Mokhabela said. Mr. Willie Barnard, who was one of the first on the scene, said Jansen van Rensburg had lived in this "Christian care center for the homeless and pensioners" for several years. "When I came to Uncle Ben, I felt a pulse, but there was nothing," Barnard said. "He was lying naked at the bottom of the bed on his stomach." Jansen van Rensburg's left leg was amputated a few years ago due to gangrene.

A case of murder is being investigated. No one has been arrested yet. Jansen van Rensburg leaves behind a son, Bennie, and a daughter, Bernadette.
