Saxo Grammaticus registrerer at han ble myrdet med sin halvbror Knud II "Den Hellige / Hellige" Kongen av Danmark Roskildekrøniken forteller at "Frater Eius ... Benedictus" ble drept med "Kanutus" på "Othinse in ecclesia sancti Albani"
