About Benjamin Franklin Abernethy
Benjamin Franklin ABERNETHY (born: 26 mar 1886 in Lenior, North Carolina) was a furniture builder, played fiddle at local barn dances, and died in 1966 in Asheville,Buncombe, North Carolina.
His son, Ivey Lee joined the military, and the record keepers spelled his last name ABERNATHY; in order to get his military benefits, he had to accept this new spelling of his last name. ["Lee" told this to all his children and grand-children, on many occassions -- I remember Lee well - he was my grandfather; but Ben died when I was 2 years old. -- Cathy Ann Abernathy
