Gettysburg Times 8/23/1940 Benjamin E. Blocher, 61, Bendersville. a fruit grower, died in the Warner hospital Saturday evening at, 7:30 o'clock from a mesenteric embolism. He had been in ill health several weeks and was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition last Wednesday evening.
The deceased was a son of Mrs. Louisa (Rex) Blocher. of Bendersville. and the late James Blocher. He was born in Bendersville and always resided there. His first wife, the former Mary Gochenour, died in 1909.
He was a member of the Bendersvile I.O.O.F. lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Gettysburg, and the Bendersville Lutheran church.
Surviving are his widow, the former Romaine Hoover; his mother, Mrs. Louisa Blocher. Bendersville; two daughters. Mrs. Everett Strohm, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Lee Gabler, Carlisle, and a step-daughter by his first marriage. Mrs. Thoma.s Lyons, Falls Church. Virginia.
Funeral services from the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Dr, j O. D. Coble. Interment, in the Bendersville cemetery. Friends may call at, the late home this evenina from 7 to 9 o'clock
