Benjamin Bright went to South Africa with the Army to the Kaffir Wars. Later he went to India where he died of dysentery. Rebecca remarried and remained in South Africa. Sarah and William and their three children sailed to New Zealand aboard Steinwarder and received a land grant under the Waikato immigration scheme at Waiuku, moving later to Thames. William died aged 48 three weeks after Richard was born. Sarah remarried. Mary and Peter McGregor came on the same ship. Eventually lived at Paeroa. Peter died, Mary Ann remarried. James came aboard 'Eveline' under the name Brown. Descendants still live in Waiuku district.
