About Benjamin Jonas Cohen

Deze kocht in 1780 o.a. een huis aan de Zuidsingel (no.38), dat hij liet slopen om op die plek het bekende “huis met de blauwe ruiten” te laten bouwen.

Dit huis stelde hij in 1786 ter beschikking van Prins Willem V en zijn vrouw Prinses Wilhelmina van Pruisen, in de tijd van de twisten tussen Patriotten en Prinsgezinden.

English: In 1780 he bought, among other things, a house on Zuidsingel (no.38), which he had demolished in order to have the famous "house with the blue windows" built on that spot.

He put this house at the disposal of Prince William V and his wife Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia in 1786, during the time of the quarrels between the Patriots and the Princes
